So how does Gun Control fit in with criminal justice? Since the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut at Sandy Hook Elementary school on December 14, 2012, there has been an uproar on gun control and the 2nd Amendment in America. Citizens from all around the country have sparked an interest in their gun rights and the issue of potential gun control that may be enforced in the near future. Although there have been many arguments for gun control and against it, one of the major points is that many citizens still see the value of a well-armed citizenry to keep all individuals and US citizens better protected and safer at any given time.
After the shooting, there has been a surge in the media discussing the topic of gun violence, crimes committed with guns, and the top of gun control in America. The topic of gun control has sparked an outcry from citizens in the US and individuals from around the world who have an interest in protecting their own rights and the rights of their loved ones. Our original constitution in the US includes information regarding the 2nd Amendment which states we have the right to bear arms as citizens, also ridding government control over weapons for all citizens.

One of the biggest arguments being made to stop gun control from happening in the US constitution and the 2nd Amendment itself is being brought to light by all individuals who support the right to bear arms and own the weapons of their choice. There have been 138,336 crimes of aggravated gun assault, the lowest rate on record since 2004. Gun robbery crimes made up 122,300 crimes in 2011, the lowest rate recorded since 2004. Statistics are being used against gun control and for gun control using many different perspectives and sharing a variety of points.
Understanding the impact of removing the 2nd Amendment may very well be revolutionary for the United States and its citizens, who are not all pleased with the discussion of removing our rights permanently. Knowing more about gun control and how it may affect you in the future is another way to ensure you are making the right decisions if you are asked to vote or speak on the subject.
